Update on the BEMA Sunday morning discussion group
We wanted to provide an update on the Sunday morning BEMA discussion group (based on the bemadiscipleship.com podcast series), especially if folks are looking for a good discussion for the summer. For the rest of the summer, we are finishing our walk through Torah (the first five books). We have finished Genesis and are now on Exodus and exploring some foundational themes found in the Old Testament that help us better understand God’s nature and our relationship to Him. We are exploring the idea of Empire (the way of the world) vs Shalom (the way of God and His Kingdom).
People can come drop in our discussion and take a listen and participate. It is okay to start participating even now and engage in rich discussion of the text. We are providing a list of the podcast episodes and scriptures we will be covering, in case folks are in and out this summer. Our goal in the class will be to walk through the whole Bible together. At our current pace, we will finish the calendar year in the prophets, with plans to move to the gospels by next summer. We believe that our time spent in the Old Testament will help us more fully understand the message of Jesus in his time and how it connects so clearly with our time.
