Prayer Requests & Updates

Alexa Pursell has a herniated disc and spondylolisthesis. She will be meeting with a neurosurgeon soon to find out her best options. Cards may be sent to Alexa at 385 N Billups Street, Athens, GA 30606.

Kindred Howard’s dear friend Gino Petrovich is currently on life support due to Covid. He is in his 50’s and is one of Kindred’s best friends in Michigan.

Derek Carroll had neck surgery on Thursday. Please continue to pray for his recovery. Cards may be sent to him at 1111 Timarron Trail, Watkinsville, GA 30677.

Pat Snow was diagnosed with cancer and will be undergoing a hysterectomy soon. Pray the surgery goes well, that the cancer hasn’t spread and for complete healing. Cards may be sent to 1260 Nona Drive, Athens, GA 30606.

Marcia Redd and family lost her brother William Mitchell recently. Sunday service starts at 10:30 am with adult Sunday school online classes preceding the service. We will be meeting in person at the building and the service will be live streamed on the church website (athenscoc.com) and our Facebook page.

Update on wearing masks at service:

For the foreseeable future the leadership team has decided it is now optional to wear a mask during services.  In conjunction with this option, we are sectioning off seating for those who choose to wear a mask and for those who choose not to wear one.  The sections are as follows:

WEARING A MASK.  All the seats in the section to the left of the middle aisle will be designated for those WEARING a mask.

NOT WEARING A MASK.  All the seats in the section to the right of the middle aisle will be designated for those NOT WEARING a mask.

Please arrange yourself appropriately and monitor your fellowship so we can continue to offer a safe environment for each other.

Marriage Retreat March 18th & 19th, 2022

Athens Church of Christ is excited to announce our 2022 Marriage retreat! We will be having two days of fellowship and teaching focused on building relationships and strengthening marriages.

The cost will be $290 per couple. The cost will cover a room at the Amicalola Falls Lodge for the night of March 18th, breakfast and a box lunch on Saturday, as well as various activities scheduled for the retreat.

Check in will begin on Friday, March 18th at 3pm. There will be breakfast followed by breakout classes on Saturday with the retreat closing out at 4pm on Saturday, March 19th.

If you would like to pay half the retreat cost now, you may pay a non-refundable deposit of $150 today and the remaining balance will be do February 18th.

Cash or check option: For those couples wanting to pay by check or cash for the marriage retreat, there will be a table set up on Sunday to take their registration.

Request from Mollie Mostert for Disciples in Pakistan

The disciples in Pakistan are extremely poor- much more than I know how to describe. They are unable to buy Christmas gifts for their children. The only way they get any Christmas gifts is from the donations I send. There are 150 children in the four churches there. My goal is for each child to have a $10 gift. That is nothing to us, but HUGE for them. Any amount you can give will be deeply appreciated. Checks can be made out to South Asia Mission Society and are tax deductible.

Mollie will have Christmas wreaths for sale tomorrow at church. All proceeds will go towards Christmas gifts for Pakistani Christmas gifts.
