NOTICE: Date Change for ACOC Host Week
The correct dates that ACOC is hosting for Family Promise are September 26th through October 3rd.
Starting Sunday evening 9/26 through late afternoon on Sunday 10/3, we get the privilege to serve several families currently experiencing homelessness here in Athens. There are many different ways to serve in a variety of formats that will easily fit your schedule and life situation. This will take place at the current static site which is Milledge Avenue Baptist Church. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have ANY questions or if you need me or Rachele to partner and serve with you for the first time. Thanks so much!

Family Promise of Athens Update
It has been a fairly quiet month at the static site. We continue to help families work through their housing roadblocks. All children are in school, at daycare, or are working. Three of our parents acquired jobs in the past few weeks, significantly improving their chances of getting a home.
Guest Updates
After a move out at the end of August we have two families as guests at the static site. Last month we returned to serving meals family style with an additional meal prepared and packaged separately for the host(s) on duty. Meal preparers drop meals off at the table inside the MABC entrance. Guest families will carry the food upstairs.
We have returned to a tighter social distancing and are asking volunteers not to go upstairs unless required to do so in case of an emergency. Please wear a mask when on duty and interacting with others.
Tina and Jared’s family should be moving out soon. We will post a request for move out volunteers when a date is set. We will wait to add new families until we know details of their departure.
Our current families are:
- Tina and Jared with children Nevaeh (18), Tivann (17), Tiriyana (15), Kiriyana (15), Jayon (11), & Jaleb (10). Food Allergies are pork, beef, mushrooms, and red dye 40.
- Nadia with child Faith (11). Food Allergy to Mushrooms.
Whole-In-One Golf Tournament
Our annual Family Promise of Athens golf fundraiser is rapidly approaching. November 8th teams will gather at Jennings Mill Golf Club for a fun day of golf and fundraising. We would like to have a team from every partner congregation and business! We are currently accepting sponsors and team registrations.
