Encouragement for the Church

PSALM 42:11
“Why, my soul, are you downcast?
Why disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
For I will yet praise him,
My Savior and my God.”
This psalm is a great source of encouragement, in that it reminds us of the reality of who our God is and what this reality means for us as disciples! When we, in faith, focus our hearts and minds on the love, faithfulness, and sovereignty of our God, we too find peace as we put our hope in him!
In our darkest hours, we, like the psalmist, cannot help but ask ourselves, “Why is my soul downcast? Why am I disturbed within? My God is with me! He loves me, intends good for me, has faithfully promised blessing, and is sovereign to bring all he has promised to fruition!” Like the psalmist, let this be the source of your praise–the faith and knowledge that your God is with you always!
Take heart and put your hope in God! May the reality of who he is and how he cares for you give you great peace and security to rest in him, as you continue to faithfully follow our Lord Jesus Christ and love the community of believers!
Happy Thanksgiving!
