Tomorrow night – Wednesday, May 1
Women’s Midweek @ 7:00 PM
Please pray for Bobbi Scott. She just found out this week that she needs to have a hysterectomy due to the presence of abnormal cells. Doctors are concerned that this might indicate cancer. She is waiting on a surgery date.
Kellie Baxter is still recovering. More dates have been added so that we can continue to provide meals. Please use the link below to sign up on Meal Train if you can help:
Be still, and know that I am God…
Psalm 46:10
“I’m bored!” Have you ever heard that from your children? Before you rush to “rescue” them from their boredom, filling their mind and their time with activity and entertainment, consider this…
In scripture we often read about meditating on God and His wonders. We are encouraged to be still. This is not necessarily just about our body, but about our mind…letting our mind and imagination explore and be filled with God’s goodness, grace, mercy, loving kindness, etc. etc. Children come wired to play and explore and imagine. When we fill their time and their minds constantly, we stifle that imagination and creativity, making it all about them, entertaining them and trying to make them feel good. Besides the fact that there is no way parents can always entertain their children (so don’t wear yourself out trying to), we do them a disservice when we don’t allow them to entertain themselves and feed that creative part of them that is like God Himself. God is the Creator of everything. He loves creativity! Let your child be bored. Let them learn to be quiet with their own thoughts and be creative, just like they were created to be!
Listen to this short video to be encouraged. I couldn’t help but smile when I watched it!
