We hope you can join us this Sunday for our in-person service at 10:30 am. We will also be live-streaming the service on our live Facebook page and at athenscoc.com.
We are looking for people to serve in the Kid’s Kingdom ministry this upcoming year. To provide stability for our children, we are asking for people to love/serve our children for 3 months of the year. It would be a one month on, 3 month off rotation.
Invites for the Christmas musical “On the Air” are available on the welcome stand in the courtyard.
The Giving Tree for the Single Parents
We are excited to share that it’s that time of year again to do something special for our single parents. The Giving Tree is up in the courtyard and filled with gift tags for the children in our church family with a single parent.
The kids will each receive two gifts/gift cards. On each tag you will see an age, gender, and an item they would like for Christmas. If you feel like this is something you would enjoy participating in please go pick a tag off the tree. Please be sure to give us the tag number you take so we can be sure all the children get their gifts. If you also want to help a single mom, please donate a $25 gas or gift card. We ask that you bring the gifts wrapped with the tag you took attached to it and place it at the Giving Tree. All gifts need be delivered by Sunday December 18 before worship so they can be distributed after worship. Thank you in advance for being a little elf working behind the scenes to bring a big smile to some of “our” children’s faces! Thank you for encouraging the single parents in the Athens Church family.
Matthew 6:3-4 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
Love to all,
Terry and Cricket
Opportunity to Provide Christmas Presents
for Children of Disciples in Pakistan
Last day to donate is Sunday, December 11th
If $400 is raised by Sunday, someone has offered to match that amount so Mollie can reach her goal.
The disciples in Pakistan are too poor to buy Christmas gifts for their children. Average income per family is $130. $100 goes for a one room apartment. Aged parents, husband and wife and their children all live in this room. Communal toilets are outside and cooking is also outside over a fire.
The remaining $30 is for food, transportation, medical, school fees, clothing, etc. Because they are Christian, they get only the lowest paying jobs. It is impossible for them to buy Christmas gifts for their children.
Please help with donations to provide gifts for these 150 children.
Checks can be made out to South Asia Mission Society and are tax deductible.
I will be in the back of the sanctuary on Sunday to collect.
